Jorja Barnes

Hi, I'm Jorja. I am an Accredited Dietitian & Nutritionist and a lover of all things food! My interest in food and nutrition was sparked while representing Australia in water polo as a junior athlete and realising the profound link between food and sporting performance. My focus since shifted towards my career in nutrition & dietetics where I have now found my niche helping clients to achieve their personal goals with food. I consult on all general dietetic issues such as weight loss, diabetes, cholesterol and food intolerances. I also hold a strong interest in sports nutrition and women’s health issues including PCOS, fertility and pregnancy. Importantly, I combine my knowledge with a real world practical outlook. The ultra-busy lifestyle we lead doesn’t leave a lot of time left to spend hours in the kitchen. For this reason, meals that are super quick, really tasty and easy to prepare play a large role in my approach. I love my food, including cheese, wine and chocolate. I subscribe to the principles of moderation and believe as long as you have a strong dietary foundation then nothing should be off limits.

Celia Grossman

I am a qualified naturopath and clinical nutritionist, with a wealth of experience in health spanning over 40 years. In 1976, I completed a Bachelor of Science degree with Honours at Monash University, majoring in Biochemistry and Microbiology. After I completed my honours research year, I was employed by the Royal Women’s Hospital located in Melbourne, Australia, as a bacteriologist. I worked there for several years before leaving to start a family. After my children married, when I should have considered retirement, I embarked on a 4-year full-time Bachelor of Health Science Degree (Naturopathy) course at Torrens University. My unique tertiary university education and clinical experience have provided me with the knowledge and passion to treat such conditions as bacterial and yeast overgrowth in the digestive system, such as SIBO and IBS, and other gut complaints. Indeed, I am one of a select group of preferred practitioners who have been approved by and I have also embarked on a comprehensive courses of over 300 hours in Functional Immunology, Thyroid Health, and Blood Test Analysis. These have been invaluable courses among others I have done, to address autoimmune issues such as the thyroid disorder, Hashimoto's and to be able to uncover dysfunctional patterns in a routine blood test. Furthermore, owing to the fact that I have been fortunate to train under the giants in genetics and nutrigenomics,, I am able to assess your genetic make-up and how this may impact your health, fertility, and other chronic conditions. My goal is to improve your health, well-being and quality of life, by assisting you with evidenced-based dietary advice, lifestyle changes, natural medicines and nutritional supplementation. With my knowledge of genetics and nutrigenomics, immunology, and my extensive knowledge of biochemical pathways, microbiology and physiological processes of the body, I can recommend and design a nutritional and lifestyle program that suits your unique genetic profile and your clinical history. As a solution-oriented health detective with a passion and knowledge in nutritional biochemistry, immunology and the microbiome, I seek to uncover and treat any underlying causes to your health conditions, rather than merely concentrating on alleviating the presenting symptoms. Ultimately, while the chances of totally changing the mindset of the general population is unlikely, I am determined to IMPROVE THE HEALTH OF ONE INDIVIDUAL AT A TIME.

Mary-Anne Bennett

“Everybody is different” isn’t just true of our shape or physical type. It’s true down to the genetic level, according to expert nutritionist and nutrigenomics specialist. Mary-Anne is an industry leader in all things nutrition; lauded for her extensive knowledge on nutrigenomics, the study of the effects of food on gene expression, and women's chronic health care management. Director and Clinical Nutritionist at Adelaide Nutrition and Wellbeing, Mary-Anne is a leading thinker on women’s health, harnessing the power of food to overcome chronic illness and individual client care. Her work spans many areas, including chronic health management for conditions such as fibromyalgia and auto-immune disease, as well as menopause, preconception and fertility care. Mary-Anne’s success comes from her strongly held belief that there’s no one-size-fits-all diet, but with the right health care and nutrition, everyone can enjoy a healthy life. After suffering from a range of chronic health problems which doctors could not explain, Mary-Anne went to university to study nutrition in her 50s. That decision ignited her passion to teach others to take control of their own health through the power of food. Mary-Anne’s focuses on individual nutrition programs, and influencing women about their definition of healthy eating with the mantra “health is wealth”. She argues chronic illness is not a normal part of ageing and the right individual back-to-basics diet will influence health outcomes.
