My name is Mari, and I hold a Bachelor’s degree in Naturopathy from Endeavour College of Natural Health. Originally from Finland, I am also a qualified registered nurse, with a few years of experience working in the Emergency Department before settling in Australia. My background includes service as a nurse in the Finnish Defence Forces, along with a certification in sports massage. With over 10 years of experience in healthcare, I have developed strong practical skills and a deep understanding of patient care. While working within conventional medicine, I often encountered limitations that led me to seek a more comprehensive approach. Naturopathy has provided me with a deeper understanding of disease and the ability to support health through a truly holistic lens. Naturopathy is not only my profession but also my passion. I practise what I preach and am dedicated to empowering others through education. I believe in supporting people in taking an active role in their health—helping them understand their bodies, their needs, and how to achieve lasting well-being and prevent disease. My approach to care is holistic and individualised. I assess each person through detailed consultations, including symptoms, medical and family history, diet, lifestyle, and relevant pathology results. Where appropriate, I incorporate functional testing to identify the root causes of health concerns. From this, I create personalised treatment plans and provide ongoing support throughout the wellness journey. In practice, I utilise a combination of dietary and lifestyle modifications, herbal medicine, and nutritional support to restore balance to both body and mind. My approach is based on current scientific research, clinical experience, and traditional knowledge. My main areas of interest: - Digestive health: Gain relief from digestive issues such as reflux, indigestion, constipation, diarrhea, bloating, dysbiosis, hemorrhoids, intolerances, IBS, IBD, parasites, SIBO… - Women's Wellness: Find balance and support for women's health concerns such as PMS, endometriosis, irregular, painful and heavy periods, hormonal changes, reoccurring UTI’s, thrush and BV, vaginal health and understanding your natural cycle from menarche to menopause - Nervous system regulation: Learn natural ways to regulate the nervous system, to soothe anxiety, reduce stress and improve sleep. - Gentle detoxification: Support your body's natural detox processes with gentle, effective naturopathic methods.

If you are a human being, you stand on the shoulders of ancestors who used medicinal plants to heal. Herbal medicine has been used since the dawn of human time, not only to treat illnesses and ailments, but to build strength and resilience. It is not an abstract, woo-woo concept to 'believe' in or not. It's a firmament of human health on planet earth; a subject of powerful chemistry, sophisticated mechanisms of action and deep nutritional complexity. Our disconnection from using plants as medicine is a very recent phenomenon; a blip in the history of humanity. I've now been a herbalist for almost a quarter of a century, and I believe that a repair, and return to, this connection represents a vital missing link in the modern health crisis. Herbal medicine serves as both an alternative and a complement to orthodox modern medicine, for a host of conditions from acute to chronic, from straightforward to complex and multifaceted. The evidence-base for medicinal herbs grows ever more robust, and the world needs this modality more than ever before. My portfolio career in the vast field of herbal medicine and naturopathy has spanned almost 25 years, in many iterations; from clinical settings to walk-in apothecaries, from high level technical practitioner support to academic curriculum writing. For the last 13 years I have worked exclusively as a senior specialist writer and researcher, working with Australia's leading brands, organisations and practitioner cohorts in the herbal medicine space. During this time, I have been deeply immersed in the studies and literature, connecting the dots between tradition and science, theory and practice, while witnessing the ongoing power of plant medicine in my life and in the lives of those I love and care for. Herbal medicine is for everyone, all the time. In my observation, it works perhaps most powerfully for those who are standing at thresholds, paused at crossroads or moving through the transitions and changes of life. The medicines are there to soothe the brand-newness of the infant and wrangled nerves of the overwhelmed parent; the nervous, teary child; the confused, angry adolescent; the crisis of midlife and the frailty of age, the vulnerability of ill health and the hopefulness of recovery. Within the herbal apothecary sit companions and remedies for every stage of life, and assistants for every human experience. It's my job to do the matchmaking. My return to private practice answers a powerful call to bridge clinical research with traditional lore, translating scientific findings and ancient wisdom into the soul work of practical herbalism. Attending to patients again is a homecoming, and I look forward to introducing you to the plants.
I am a Functional Nutrition Consultant, Certified GAPS Practitioner and mum of three. I'm dedicated to helping others achieve their health goals by addressing the root cause of digestive issues, health conditions and any other aspect they want to improve. I combine evidence-based but also anecdotal cases using traditional and holistic practices to support wellness and help individuals reclaim their health. My passion is to help people make better choices for themselves and their family. I implement the GAPS Nutritional Protocol for root cause and deep healing to educate and empower people to go that bit further. From gut healing to fixing function, many conditions people are faced with in today's environmental and lifestyle challenges can be resolved. I have a huge interest in traditional cooking; I love fermenting and embrace the slower style of food preparation. I understand the pressures of raising a family and bringing nutrient rich food to the table and I endeavour to help makes things simpler and achievable. Personally, I have implemented GAPS and am blown away by what small shifts can be made when you integrate healing foods and the flow on effect with other issues. I want to educate others because I believe any condition can be improved.
